Storytelling

Intrigued by Tim O'Brien's discussion of confabulation and storytelling in his book The Things They Carry and the "Rashomon Effect," I studied folklores that have multiple versions to analyze their differences. I rewrote one of the stories, "Little Red Riding Hood," with my interpretation of the characters' personas. The collection is informed by the narratives from the 3 main perspectives: Little Red, Wolf, and Grandma.

You start sometimes with an incident that truly happened, like the night in the shit field, and you carry it forward by inventing incidents that did not in fact occur but that nonetheless help to clarify and explain.
